Photos of Australian music legend John Farnham have been shared publicly, showing he’s in good spirits since undergoing surgery for oral cancer.

The rock star, who announced he was cancer free in August of last year, was pictured at the wedding of his son, Rob, and his bride Melissa.

Farnham, 74, had a tumour removed from his mouth during a 12-hour surgical procedure in 2022, and his appearances in public have been sparse since then.

Rob shared images from his wedding on Instagram on Sunday night, which included glimpses of Farnham in high spirits.

“Shared the happiest moment with my favourite person in the universe and she said I do,” Rob wrote on Instagram.

“Melissa, my life is forever better that you’re a part of it. You looked radiant, beautiful and elegant. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us and I’m truly honoured to have you by my side as my wife for life.”

Friends, family and fans of Farnham all replied to the social media post with warm comments.

“Such beautiful photos,” one said.

“Such a beautiful father-son pic,” said another.

“Congratulations to you both. ️ It’s so nice to see your dad, he looks fantastic! Love to you all,” wrote a third wellwisher.

And there was more than one person saying simply: “FARNSY.”

In the second half of last year, Farnham told his fans he was “the luckiest man I know”, having undergone his cancer surgery and the subsequent rehabilitation.

“It’s been a year since my first surgery and to be honest I’ve lost count as to how many other procedures there’s been since then,” he said.

“I’m sure someone’s kept track of them all – let’s just say, there’s been a few. But, I’m home now and I’m a very grateful and happy man. I’m sitting here in my living room lapping up the attention from my beautiful wife, Jill, my boys Rob and James and my mini Schnauzer, Edmund.

“It’s only now that I can start to appreciate and comprehend, for myself, how many messages of love and support have been sent to me over the past year. I don’t know what to say, other than thank you so very much. It honestly means the world to me. Thank you to everyone who took the time to write and send a message.

“Today is a special day. And I’m going to mark it by having a pizza – because I can! I can’t wait to see what might be next on the menu. Bring on 2024.”

The statement also included a message of thanks “to everyone across Australia and the world” from the entire Farnham family “for the extraordinary amount of generous messages and well wishes” they’d received during the singer’s health battle.
