Wicked star Ariana Grande caught in another chaotic red carpet scene
Ariana Grande begged photographers to “go easy” before protective co-star Cynthia Erivo once again stepped in to her aide.
Ariana Grande has been caught up in yet another scary incident on the red carpet, this time at the New York premiere of Wicked: For Good.
The 32-year-old star, who was ambushed by a crazed fan just last week at the Singapore premiere of the highly-anticipated film sequel, appeared distressed as she posed for photographers in New York.
In worrying footage, the former child star beams for the cameras before her entire demeanour suddenly shifts and she begs the photographers working the red carpet to “go easy” on her and tone down their screaming.
It didn’t take long for co-star Cynthia Erivo to notice things were off, jumping in to help flag down a helper, proving she will forever be Grande’s fierce protector.
A helper then comes to assist the star with managing the chaotic energy, with her gesturing with her hands to “calm” things down.
The Daily Mail enlisted a forensic lip-reader to examine the footage, who claimed that Grande appears to talk about her “anxiety” during the incident.

The incident came after Australian “serial pest” and online prankster, Johnson Wen, jumped a barricade at last week’s Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore, sparking security fears for the star cast - particularly a noticeably frazzled Grande.
The moment was famously captured on camera and circulated online, where Erivo was praised for quickly launching into action to protect her co-star and close pal, shielding her from any harm.
Despite the heavy promotion and one-year gap between the first and second part of the film based on the blockbuster Broadway musical, Wicked: For Good has been met with some mixed reviews online.
Die-hard fans are claiming it to be everything they hoped for and more given the long wait.
“Wicked: For Good is a satisfying albeit a bittersweet ride and truly anyone that loves the broadway show and the first movie will be satisfied and changed for good,” one fan wrote on Rotten Tomatoes.
Meanwhile, others claim it to be too long and in parts “boring”.
“In the end, Wicked: For Good is a bit of a mess, failing to capitalise on the momentum of he first entry,” another critic wrote. “Its over-busy, choppy structure preventing this viewer from becoming emotionally engaged.”
