NATALIE Portman is teaming up with Darren Aronofsky, the man who directed her to an Oscar in Black Swan, to star as former US First Lady Jackie Kennedy in a new biopic.
Deadline reports that Portman will play Kennedy in a film which focuses on the first four days after her husband John F. Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas.
The film, entitled Jackie, is set to be directed by Chilean Pablo Larrain and produced by Aronofsky.
Portman follows a number of other actresses who have played Jackie Kennedy, but none have really been able to capture the former First Lady’s persona.
Katie Holmes tried her best in the film, The Kennedys, opposite Greg Kinnear’s JFK. Jaclyn Smith played Kennedy in a 1981 telemovie, while Jacqueline Bisset took the role in the 1978 film The Greek Tycoon.
Portman, who took a break from acting after her Oscar win, has a number of films coming out this year including two Tererence Malick movies Knight of Cups and Weightless, Jane Got a Gun with Ewan McGregor and Planetarium with Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily Rose Depp.
