IT’S the news Star Wars fans around the world have been waiting for — who will tell the final instalment of the George Lucas’ acclaimed space drama?

That honour has reportedly gone to Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow who, hot on the heels of his success with the dinosaur franchise, will, if rumours are correct, direct Episode Nine.

Confirmation has yet to come from the official Star Wars camp, but popular fan site Heoric Hollywood posted the news as its exclusive on Friday.

According to the site, later in the US today, the Star Wars Comic Con panel, Lucasfilm will bring out Colin Trevorrow onto the stage at Hall H to announce him as the director of the next instalment.

Earlier this year there were reports in The Telegraph that The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Buffy the Vampire Slayer director Joss Whedon was set to direct the last in the epic series.

If the reports are true, Trevorrow will take over from Rian Johnson who has been hard at work with Episode Eight, and JJ Abrams who has directed Episode Seven which is due for release in December.

May the Force be with you.
