GERARD Butler has pulled out of the hotly-anticipated Point Break remake.
A combination of creative differences and scheduling conflicts caused the Scottish actor to bail on the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Butler, currently shooting the $150 million action fantasy Gods of Egypt in Sydney, was to have played Bodhi, Patrick Swayze’s character in the original 1991 film.

Former Home and Away star Luke Bracey, 24, is still signed on to play the Keanu Reeves character Johnny Utah.
In March, Butler told News Corp the Point Break reboot would film on location in Tahiti, Venezuela, Mexico, Italy, Switzerland, France and Germany and would recast the protagonists as environmental terrorists.
At the time, he said the filmmakers were intending to up the action ante by hiring extreme sportsmen such as Garrett McNamara, who holds the Guinness World Record for the largest wave ever surfed, and BASE-jumper Jeb Corliss, who famously leapt off the Eiffel Tower, to do the stunts.
TOO MUCH: Butler’s remake too scary for stuntmen
“I am not even pretending that I will come close to any of those things, but you still have to be au fait with hanging off a mountain and hanging around big waves,” said the 44-year-old actor.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming will begin in late June and take several months to complete.
The cameras are scheduled to start rolling on London has Fallen, the sequel to Butler’s hit thriller Olympus Has Fallen, in the European autumn.
Since Alcon is intent on maintaining its original start date, the production company will recast the part in the coming weeks.
