Hollywood actor Adrian Grenier has touched down in Far North Queensland to kick off production on a new romantic comedy titled ‘You, Always’.
Supported by Screen Queensland, the film will be shot across tropical Far North Queensland, with some of the production also taking place at Cairns’ new Screen Queensland Studios, which opened earlier this year.
Produced by Brisbane-based Jaggi Entertainment, ‘You, Always’ stars Grenier as Ethan, a devoted best friend who, after years of friendship, realises he’s been in love with Jen, played by Jessica De Gouw (The Union, The Portable Door), — just as her world is turned upside down by the arrival of a charismatic author Patrick, played by Desmond Chiam (Joy Ride, Mortal Kombat 2).
The Queensland Government has hailed the production as a significant win for the state, with Minister for Education and the Arts, John-Paul Langbroek, revealing that the film will generate an estimated $3.5 million for the local economy and create 100 new jobs.
“Queensland is the best place in the world to live and the wonderful beauty of tropical Far North Queensland will be showcased to the world through You, Always,” Minister Langbroek said.
“This is a 100 per-cent Queensland-made production and our government is proud to continue supporting our talented film industry professionals.”
Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney revealed that the production is the first to benefit from the new North Queensland Production Incentive, designed to attract more major projects to the region.
Grenier, best known for his role in Entourage and the Devil Wears Prada shared his excitement about working in Cairns.
“The natural beauty of Far North Queensland provides such a stunning backdrop for this story, and the warmth of the local community and the Jaggi Entertainment family has been incredible,” he said.
“It’s exciting to bring this project to life in such a special place, and I can’t wait for audiences to see it.”
This production follows in the footsteps of other major films that have chosen Far North Queensland as their cinematic backdrop.
In 2022, the film ‘Wizards!’, starring Pete Davidson and Orlando Bloom, was shot in iconic locations like the Daintree, Port Douglas, and Cairns, including at Gilligans, Rusty’s Markets, and Grafton Street.
The yet-to-be-released film was expected to generate $14.7 million for the Queensland economy, alongside 100 jobs for local cast and around 300 opportunities for extras.
