MIDNIGHT Oil will return to Darwin in August, with a new show announced on Wednesday.
The Australian rock band will perform at the Darwin Convention Centre on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
The show is a rescheduled performance after band frontman Peter Garrett contracted Covid in April, on the day of the intended Darwin performance.
The band was also forced to cancel its Cairns performance and weather forced the cancellation of the Canberra show.
“We were very frustrated that Covid cost us two gigs up north and that Canberra safety
officials then pulled the plug on that show due to lightning,” Garrett said.
“We said at the time that we would do everything possible to make it up to everyone in those places who missed out, so now we’re making good on that promise.”
Darwin local Leah Flanagan will be the group’s special guest.
Flanagan grew up in a household filled with music and culture – boasting a proud Italian, Indigenous (Alyawarre) and Irish heritage that she credits as early influences to her sound.
Frontier presale tickets go on sale on Thursday July 14 at 12pm ACST, while general public tickets will go on sale on Monday.
