Kylie Minogue lets slip big Aussie news on-air: ‘Wasn’t meant to say that’

“Maybe I wasn’t meant to say that …” Kylie Minogue let slip some big news about her Aussie plans during a radio interview this morning.

Kylie Minogue has teased fans won't have to "wait too long" for a new album

Aussie pop queen Kylie Minogue appeared to let slip some big news on Australian radio today, confessing that a long-awaited tour down under is in the works, before immediately correcting herself: “Maybe I wasn’t meant to say that …”

Minogue appeared on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick when they asked if an Australian tour was “on the cards.”

“Uh … I want to say yes. Yes. The answer is yes! We’re just locking down details,” Minogue said. “Maybe I wasn’t meant to say that, but yes!”

It comes after Minogue’s triumphant headlining slot at the massive British Summer Time festival in London’s Hyde Park over the weekend.

Minogue delivered a hit-filled set, joined on stage by pop stars Tove Lo and Bebe Rexha to perform their newly-released collaboration, My Oh My.

And the star appeared to be having the time of her life: Backstage footage shared on social media showed that Minogue was carried from her dressing room to the stage by actors (and adoring Kylie fans) Andrew Scott and Jonathan Bailey.

This glimmer of hope for an Australian tour comes in just the nick of time for Aussie Kylie fans: She hasn’t toured here since the Golden jaunt of March 2019, but she was due to headline this weekend’s Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay. The festival was cancelled earlier this year, mere days after tickets went on sale.

Since the Golden tour, Minogue has released two more studio albums, Aussie number ones Disco and Tension. The former was released during lockdown in 2020, making it the first Kylie Minogue album in many years not to be supported by an extensive tour.

The latter was released late last year off the back of the surprise global hit Padam Padam, and saw Minogue launch an entirely new venture for her: A Las Vegas residency.

In planning an Australian tour, Minogue could do a lot worse than repeating the setlist from her British Summer Time Hyde Park show, which included classics like Better the Devil You Know and Love At First Sight alongside live debuts of some of her newest songs:
