Jimmy Barnes’ wife reveals singer will be home for Christmas

The Aussie star’s wife has been updating his recovery from heart surgery and late on Tuesday she revealed some big news on how he’s faring.

Jimmy Barnes’ wife Jane has said that the iconic singer will leave hospital and be home in time for Christmas.

The good news comes just a day after she posted a “graphic” picture of the star as he recovers from major surgery.

The Cold Chisel frontman, 67, underwent open heart surgery earlier this month after a bacterial infection spread to a heart valve.

After making it through the surgery, Barnes has been spending time in recovery, being cared for by his wife, Jane.

Late on Tuesday, she shared an update that he would soon be leaving hospital.

“Onn the 6th Day of Christmas my true love said to me … ‘the doctor says I can go home on Friday’.

“Jimmy will be home for Christmas, that’s the best present I could ever wish for,” she wrote on Instagram.

On Monday, Jane took to Instagram to share a snap of her husband from day five of his recovery.

“[Graphic warning] Day 5 post cardiac and off with the dressing,” wrote Barnes’ wife alongside a picture of the star showing off a long scar running down his chest.

“Jimmy is trying to cheer me up and laughing at his own joke. Things are getting back to normal. Here are some beautiful roses from our garden to say thank you.”

It is expected Barnes’ upcoming shows in December, January and February will be cancelled as a result of his shock health scare. The singer was also forced to cancel a tour in 2022 after undergoing emergency back and hip surgery.

Last week, Barnes’ wife made sure to keep fans up to date after the star was rushed into hospital.

“Hi it’s @jane13barnes here,” she wrote on her husband’s official X page on Wednesday.

“Sharing a couple pics from earlier this morning … I’m happy to let you know that our Jimmy has made it through his surgery and is now recovering in the ICU,” she wrote. “We’re so grateful for the incredible medical team looking after him. Thank you all.”

On Sunday Jane posted a picture of Barnes’ to Facebook, his post-operative bandaging is clearly visible.

“Jane here with ‘Our Jimmy’ update for all you wellwishers,” she wrote. “Day three post-op, we had a few walks up and down the hallway, 250 metres I’d say. A tough and fragile day but here’s a big, brave smile for us. Keep up the good work, Jimmy.”
