A new Adelaide-shot thriller starring Entourage actor Jeremy Piven will premiere nationally next month.
Numbered Lives, by Australian filmmaker James Clarke, was shot on location in SA last year and stars Luke Patrick, Matthew O’Sullivan, and Piven, best known for his roles as acerbic Hollywood agent Ari Gold and as TV’s Mr Selfridge.
Clarke’s debut feature film tells the story of Noah (O’Sullivan), a young man who, after finding himself in trouble with the law, awakens in a mysterious facility run by a shadowy pharmaceutical executive (Piven) and an eccentric warden.
Piven was in Adelaide last March to shoot the thriller, which was filmed at various well-known locations around the city including the SAHMRI Building and the Old Adelaide Gaol.
“It’s my first time in Australia and you obviously see the Sydney Opera House and these images which are iconic and then you come here (to Adelaide) and it’s this new beautiful city,” he told The Advertiser last year.
“This whole skyline is stunning, I finish work early in the morning and I go for a walk along the river … it’s beautiful here, I really like it.”
Clarke said it was “extraordinary” having Piven as part of the cast.
“He is a master of his craft. He embodied his character Edgar in an ethereal way that was somewhere special – somewhere between fiction and truth, between art and reality,” he said.
The film will premiere in Melbourne on August 1, with Piven in attendance. He will also tour Australia with his stand-up comedy show Jeremy Piven Live this coming August, kicking off on August 8 in Melbourne.
