Ed Kavalee was roasted by his Have You Been Paying Attention co-stars on Monday night’s episode after his breakfast radio show was axed.
Sydney’s 2Day FM announced last week that it had canned the radio show that Kavalee hosted alongside Dave Hughes and Erin Molan, effective immediately.
The announcement came after the show recorded a dismal performance in the latest round of radio ratings.
HYBPA host Tom Gleisner poked fun at Kavalee’s career blow by featuring it as a question during this week’s episode.
“A big week for Sydney’s 2Day FM breakfast team. What have they just announced?” Gleisner asked the panellists.
Kavalee watched on as several of the comedians buzzed in to have a guess.
Felicity Ward was the first to offer up an answer, saying, “They’ve formed a throuple?”
Kitty Flanagan then buzzed in and said, “this was special, they met their listener.”
And finally Kavalee’s longtime friend Sam Pang had a crack.
“They announced the secret sound,” Pang said. “It was the sound of listeners turning to another station.”
Kavalee took the jabs well, laughing at all three of the answers.
Even though he’s out of a radio job, Kavalee still has plenty of work to keep him busy.
In addition to his role on HYBPA, he’s also seen on Channel 10’s Thank God You’re Here which returns to screens on Wednesday night, and he co-hosts a successful podcast called Team Effort alongside Tony Martin and Ash Williams.
Kavalee is expected to attend the Logie Awards this Sunday at The Star Sydney where HYBPA is nominated for Best Comedy Entertainment Program.
