Hollywood legend’s daughter Destry Allyn Spielberg warns ‘older generation trying to silence us’ as her horror flick debuts on Tubi

Steven Spielberg’s daughter warns “older generations are trying to silence” Gen Z and millennials as she addresses her dad’s role in the success of her new horror movie.

She’s the offspring of Hollywood uber-royalty, making her own way in the movie world – and Destry Allyn Spielberg has a message for those feeling threatened by millennial and Gen Z voices.

Speaking about her much-hyped debut feature film, the Tubi-exclusive horror flick Please Don’t Feed The Children, 28-year-old director Spielberg predicted it could hit home with younger viewers disillusioned by current society and politics.

“I believe that the youth right now have a really strong voice and I believe that the older generations are trying to silence us,” she told the BBC in New York.

“And there is a lot of little titbits in (the film), that I think sort of are relevant for what’s happening today, especially in this country.”

In her interview, Spielberg acknowledged that being the daughter of the legendary Steven Spielberg – whose first horror feature, Jaws, turns 50 this year – “helped open doors”, but added: “It did not necessarily mean that I could walk through the doors. So that was on me and the team that got the movie made. I’m not trying to copy him or be him.

“I’m trying to find my own voice in this industry, and I haven’t even really made a splash yet. Like this is just the first one, so there’s many more to come.”
