A new trailer for the Game of Thrones prequel series has given diehard fans the first extended look at the hugely-anticipated follow up to one of the greatest shows of all time.
House of the Dragon, which drops in Australia on August 22 on Binge and Foxtel, will follow the Targaryen family’s reign to the Iron Throne.
“History does not remember blood, it remembers names,” Lord Corlys Velaryon ‘Sea Snake’ (Steve Toussaint) can be heard saying in the dramatic trailer, as it fades out in a blaze of dragon fire.
The new trailer comes as HBO also released fresh character posters from the series, including The Crown’s Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen.

The series is based on author George RR Martin’s Fire And Blood, published by HarperCollins.
House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and will detail the peak of the Targaryen empire and the bloody reign that led to its downfall.
The series will chronicle the events leading up to and surrounding the Dance of the Dragons, which is the name given to the civil war that broke out among the Targaryen's over the succession of the Iron Throne.
The trailer shows the great families of Stark and Baratheon swearing fealty to both king Viserys Targaryen, played by Paddy Considine, and his heir Princess Rhaenyra, played by Emma D’Arcy.
“Men would sooner put the realm to the torch, than see a woman ascend the Iron Throne,” says Princess Rhaenys, played by Eve Best.
GoT author George RR Martin said in a blog post: “For what it’s worth, those who have read [my novel] Fire & Blood will realise it contains enough materials for a dozen shows. “I can say that there will be dragons. Everyone else has said that, so why not me?”
House Of The Dragon will be available to stream on Binge and watch on Foxtel from August 22 in Australia.
You can also watch the previous seasons of Game Of Thrones and related content on both services now.
