First look at sequel to Netflix’s controversial explicit hit film

This erotic thriller with shockingly explicit sex scenes caused a wave of controversy when it dropped on Netflix – so who’s ready for part two?

365 Days: This Day - official trailer (Netflix)

Mamma mia, here we go again: The 365 dni sequel is here. It’s called 365 Days: This Day, it’s coming to Netflix on April 27, and you can watch the trailer right now.

Two years ago, an erotic Polish drama with shockingly explicit sex scenes, 365 dni (or 365 Days, in English), was released on Netflix. The film, dubbed the Polish 50 Shades of Grey, was met with backlash, with critics accusing the movie of romanticising abusive relationships. The male lead, played by Michele Morrone, quite literally kidnaps the female lead, played by Anna-Maria Sieklucka. But when has a little controversy ever stopped Netflix from releasing questionable content?

Spoiler alert: Expect a lot more racy scenes like this in the sequel.

The 365 Days: This Days trailer, which you can watch above, doesn’t beat around the bush — from the very first scene, mob boss Massimo (Morrone) and his kidnapee-turned-fiance Laura (Sieklucka) are getting hot and heavy with some BDSM play. Don’t worry, it’s all totally fine in the eyes of God, because these two lovebirds are also getting married. But it’s not quite a happily-ever-after — Massimo still has some dark secrets he’s keeping from his wife, and Laura is getting flirty with a new man, played by Simone Susinna.

Based on the trailer, the sequel has a wedding (and a lot of sex).

Directed by Barbara Białowąs and Tomasz Mandes, with a screenplay by Mojca Tirs, Blanka Lipińska, and Tomasz Mandes, this 365 dni sequel promises to deliver all the darkly possessive, unhealthy-but-sexy relationship drama as the first movie. Of course, for those that remember 365 dni, you might remember that the first movie ended on a cliffhanger — so you can breathe easy knowing Laura is alive. For now.

365 Days: This Day is the first of two planned 365 dni sequels, which were announced last May. The planned trilogy will follow the storyline of the book trilogy by author Blanka Lipińska, who also worked on the movie’s script. Both Michele Morrone and Anna-Maria Sieklucka are signed on for the third and final film as well. In other words: Strap in and strap on, because this erotic ride is far from over.
