Final photo of Foo Fighters star Taylor Hawkins revealed

One of Taylor Hawkins’ bandmates has shared a haunting photo taken shortly before the Foo Fighters drummer died in Colombia.

One of the final photos taken of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins shows the beloved musician appearing happy and healthy, smiling in the background of a bandmate’s selfie.

The photo, posted by Foo Fighters background singer Samantha Sidley two days ago, shows Sidley and fellow touring band member Pat Smear posing for a photo in what appears to be a private jet.

Behind them stands Hawkins with a wide smile on his face.

“Bogota,” Sidley captioned the photo – the capital of Colombia where the band where scheduled to perform, but where instead Hawkins suffered a hotel room medical emergency and died aged 50.

The Secretariat of Health issued a statement which revealed that Hawkins may have suffered a heart attack.

“The city’s Emergency Regulation Centre received an alert about a patient with chest pain in a hotel located in the north of the city,” the statement read.

Authorities also revealed that an ambulance was called to the scene and a health professional unsuccessfully attempted to revive Hawkins, who was pronounced dead.

Sidley today paid tribute to her late bandmate, posting another photo of the two of them on tour together – captioning the snap: “Always and forever my friend.”

This glimpse at Hawkins’ final days comes as some of music’s biggest stars pay tribute to the beloved drummer – among them Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who wiped away tears as he spoke about Hawkins during a concert in Mexico just hours after news broke of his friend’s death.

And Hawkins’ bandmates have also released a heartbreaking tribute to the star, writing: “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”

Hawkins is survived by his wife and three children.
