Filmed in the NT, High Ground is making its international debut in Berlin

THE world premiere for Steven Johnson’s High Ground, filmed in the NT, will be screened at the Berlin International Film Festival next month.

THE world premiere for Steven Johnson’s High Ground, filmed in the NT, will be screened at the Berlin International Film Festival next month.

It will screen in the Berlinale Special, which is widely regarded as one of the top film festival categories in the world, alongside Cannes and Venice.

The Australian western – inspired by true events in the 1930s – was shot in Kakadu Park and Arnhem Land, and is backed by media house Screen Australia.

The film features a cast of leading Australian talent, with stars Simon Baker, Aaron Pedersen, Callan Mulvey, Jack Thompson, Guruwuk Mununggurr, Mark Garrawurra and Jacob Junior Nayinggul on the bill.

There is also a collective of talent behind the production, which was led by Maggie Miles, Yothu Yindi co-founder Witiyana Marika, Greer Simpkin, Steven Johnson and David Jowsey.
