Wildlife warrior Robert Irwin has stunned fans by “hard-launching” his girlfriend, who has a surprise connection to an Aussie icon. Here’s what we know.

Do you hear that? It’s the sound of millions of hearts in Australia — and around the world — breaking. Because teen heart-throb and everyone’s favourite animal-lover Robert Irwin is officially off the market.

Irwin, 19, and his new girlfriend Rorie Buckey, 18, made their red carpet debut at Monday’s Australian premiere of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One,

They looked very loved up, happily posing for photos.

So just who is Buckey and where did this good-looking couple meet? Here’s everything we know.

WHO IS RORIE BUCKEY?

Like Irwin, who is the son of late conservationist Steve Irwin, Buckey comes from a famous family.

The 18-year-old is the niece of late Australian actor Heath Ledger, who died from an accidental overdose in 2008 at the age of just 28. Buckey’s mother, Kate, is Ledger’s sister.

According to the Daily Mail, Buckey’s father Nathan gave the relationship his “seal of approval” but declined to talk about the relationship further.

HOW DID THE COUPLE MEET?

Irwin and Buckey were first spotted together on November 18 last year, cuddling on a beach in Queensland.

Following that, keen-eyed fans noticed Buckey was sitting with Irwin’s mum, Terri, at a crocodile show at the Australia Zoo on his birthday.

WHEN DID EVERYONE GO GA-GA FOR IRWIN?

Following his cover shoot for Stellar magazine in July last year, fans young and old realised that Irwin had grown up into a handsome man. And they weren’t afraid to let their feelings show, with several commenting over his “model looks”.

“Ohhh Robert Irwin is fine! I will finally admit I have a raging crush on him.”

“Robert Irwin is incredibly hot.”

“Robert Irwin needs to calm down with his growing up.”

Despite several rumoured girlfriends over the years, it looks like Irwin is finally happy to put the rumours to rest and declare his love for Buckey to the world.
