Deckchair general manager James Parker said the projector was a significant upgrade to the cinema which would increase the range of movies it could broadcast.
“The Deckchair Cinema is the premier cinema in the Northern Territory and a major tourist attraction for Darwin, so we knew we needed something state of the art,” said Mr Parker.
“When you only have one, it should be the best.”
Darwin Film Society chairman Jeff Coulter said the organisation had been saving for the projector for many years.
“Many people don’t realise that we are not government funded – we couldn’t do this without the support of our members and visitors who come to the cinema in record numbers each
year,” he said.
