The Darwin Symphony Orchestra has added five performances to its 2023 calendar.

Artistic director and chief conductor Jonathan Tooby said he “can’t wait” to share music of all kinds with the Top End.

“From amazing works that feature our wonderful musicians as soloists, to hits of the 90s, and much-loved symphonies by Beethoven and Brahms, there is something for everyone in this program,” he said.

“We are thrilled to be exploring exciting new collaborations with NT Indigenous artists this year, including two new education programs with Larrakia artists Jason Lee in Storytime and June Mills in Witladla.

“These projects really speak to our unique place and voice here in the NT, and we are proud

to work with these amazing artists.”

The performances also include music from the 1990s and sci-fi music from gaming titles such as Final Fantasy, Super Mario Bros and Zelda.

There are also three education events in the Orchestra’s line-up.

Darwin Entertainment Centre general manager Mike Harris said he was looking forward to the Orchestra’s “musical exploration” while being the home of quality music in Darwin.

“This symbiotic relationship between arts centre and orchestrawill create more exciting opportunities for both parties, and importantly for the people of the NT,” he said.
