THE bleak walls of the CBD are being transformed into colourful masterpieces this week with the Darwin Street Art Festival.
Local artist Jason Lee is participating in the Festival for the second time.
Last year he created the Rainbow Serpent in nearby West Lane.
This year his mural highlights the flora used by the Larrakia people, including beach hibiscus and water lilies.
“It makes me proud to showcase our culture,” he said.
“And show these are the resources we use.”
Lee said it was an excellent opportunity for artists to learn.

“It’s good for local artists to showcase their artwork and to collaborate with international and national artists,” he said.
“It brightens the city too. If they did the whole city it’d be a tourist attraction.”
The Darwin Street Art Festival continues until September 15.
