A DARWIN band who coined their own genre of music, bush jazz, launched their debut album on Saturday night.
Double Dinghy, a band made up of a trio of mates — Kurt Bartlett, Alex James and Finn Williams — have been performing together on-and-off for about four years.
“Our drummer moved to Perth a few years ago and like most people who go down south could not handle it and he’s come back up,” Williams said of the band getting back together.
Vocalist and guitarist Williams said the self-produced album, Hell North and Crooked, features all original songs.

He said the mates pioneered the bush jazz genre.
“We recorded it three years ago at our friend, local artist Colin Holt’s, studio in the old wool shed complex in The Gardens,” he said.
“We did all of it ourselves, paid for the pressing, Colin Holt did the front cover I designed the back cover.”
Their album is available to buy at Good Thanks and Postie Darwin.
