MONSOONS regular Billy Provost now has got the popular venue’s stamp tattooed on his rear end – a permanent mark which will earn the Darwin sparky Monnies VIP status for life.

“I’m yet to meet someone that doesn’t love it; worth every cent,” the 26-year-old Darwinite said about the $150 tattoo.

On Thursday, Mr Provost and a colleague were reminiscing about some classic Monsoons adventures, when the challenge to get inked was made.

“He said, ‘I bet you won’t.’ So I did,” Mr Provost said.

“We’re here maybe three times a week ... we always end up here on a night out.”

On his first evening out in Darwin, more than two years ago, Mr Provost went to Monsoons. “I remember it was Ladies Night,” Mr Provost said.

“It was a real eye-opener – I’m from a small town in WA – and there were more people in the smoking area in Monsoons than there is anywhere in Albany.”

In the average week, Mr Provost visits Monsoons about three times. “It’s part of the Territory. You haven’t been to the Darwin if you haven’t been Monsoons.”

Tess Petho, from Monsoons, said the first time she heard about Mr Provost’s new ink was when he came into the bar Thursday afternoon and showed his buttocks to staff.

“He walked in and pulled down his pants, and mooned the girls at the bar,” she said.

“He was chuffed about it – he’s a diehard fan.”

Ms Petho said Monsoons did not encourage Mr Provost to get the tattoo, and was not planning to offer freebies to Monnies fans who were inked.

However, as long as he behaves himself, Ms Petho confirmed Mr Provost would have VIP status for life.
