Hollywood awards season continues with the Critics Choice Awards taking place in Los Angeles today.
The red carpet was rolled out at Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hangar for the 30th annual celebration of film and TV, which was hosted by Chelsea Handler for the third consecutive year.
On the awards front, Conclave and Wicked were frontrunners in film with a whopping 11 nods each, while sci-fi epic Dune: Part Two and drug cartel musical Emilia Perez trailed behind with 10 apiece.
Disney+’s critically acclaimed Shōgun led the pack in TV with six nominations.
But first, the attention was all on the red carpet.
A gentle reminder, Best Actress winner Demi Moore is, indeed, 62 years old.
Rachel Brosnahan turned heads in a stunning keyhole-style dress, leading a sea of stars opting for the colour black tonight.
Kate Hudson kept it classic with a simple silhouette.
Cynthia Erivo elevated the black gown trend with her plunging shiny leather number.
Wicked co-star Ariana Grande maintained her princess aesthetic in a cutesy gold frock with an on-trend bubble hem.
Angelina Jolie just never misses.
Aussie Nicole Kidman opted for corporate chic over her usual go-to glam.
Nominee Zoe Saldana stepped out in a slinky red gown.
Here’s all the rest of the glitz and glam from the red carpet:
And a special section for the lads, led by the year’s unexpected viral social sensation Jeff Goldblum (seriously, get amongst his Wicked press interviews if you haven’t already.)
We’re edging closer to the jewel in the award season crown, the Oscars, which are happening March 3.
Before that, we have the Screen Actors Guild Awards on February 24, and the BAFTAs on February 17.
After being nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Globes in January, Australian actress Nicole Kidman’s awards campaign swiftly went south, with the star missing out on an Oscars nod for her erotic thriller Babygirl.
Kidman was not nominated for Best Actress at the Critics Choice Awards (though she did get recognised for her TV series Lioness), or for the upcoming SAGs.
In some good news for Aussies, Guy Pearce received his first ever Oscars nod with a Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Brutalist.
