Prince Harry‘s controversial memoir Spare is set to be mocked with a new parody version titled Spare Us set for release on April Fool’s Day.
The LA-based royal has come under fire for revealing too much since his memoir was released in January, including revelations he smeared Elizabeth Arden cream on his frostbitten “todger” in the Arctic and lost his virginity in a field.
The cover of the satire book sends-up the front cover of the original book by placing tape over Prince Harry’s mouth.
The book, written by Bruno Vincent, promises to delve “deep inside the castle walls” and expose “every shouting match, fistfight, betrayal, teddy bear, awkward hug and tearstained wedding rehearsal”.
Vincent’s book is set to make light of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s expectations for privacy while simultaneously seeking publicity.
“All I had ever wanted was privacy. In order to get it, it seemed that an exceptionally detailed 500,000-word book was in order,” the book description reads.
“He was born into an ancient, powerful dynasty and, through no fault of his own, became one of the most recognisable men on the planet.
“His life was a constant barrage of press intrusion and manipulation until, finally, he demanded that it stop.
“In order to get the privacy he so craved, he has written a frostbite-and-all book that goes deep inside the castle walls and exposes every shouting match, fistfight, betrayal, teddy bear, awkward hug and tearstained wedding rehearsal for the world to feast their eyes on.
“All for privacy! This is his story.”
WILLIAM’S ‘GREAT NIGHT OUT’ AT LGBTQ RESTAURANT
Prince William stunned Polish diners after he arrived at an LGBTQ+ restaurant for dinner during a two-day secret visit to the country.
Pictures taken by a fellow diner showed the prince sitting around a table at Butero Bistro on Wednesday night with a few members of his staff, while placing an order with a waiter.
“Warsaw can surprise. I ate dinner today with the Prince,” the local diner captioned the photos.
The diner also wrote that Prince William was “wondering what to order”, before adding “the service here is great and helped”.
The local also praised the prince for his support of the gay community given the Polish government’s crackdown on LGBTQ+ rights, which has been criticised by rights groups and the EU.
“It is valuable that he supported the community so abused by the current authorities in Poland,” he posted on social media.
Butero Bistro advertises itself as “your queerspace with comfort food”, while its logo is made up of the colours of the rainbow.
The central Warsaw venue organises karaoke nights for drag queens and has gathered a cult following for its opposition to the government’s conservative views.
According to the Daily Mail, Prince William asked to join his staff for dinner.
“The team from Kensington Palace booked a local restaurant near where they were working and the prince decided to join them,” a source reportedly told the Daily Mail.
“He asked them what they were doing and then asked to come along. It was a great night by all accounts.
“The team really appreciated him asking to join them,” the source said.
WILLIAM’S TOUCHING TRIBUTE TO TROOPS
The prince paid a touching tribute at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during his trip to Poland.
The 40-year-old heir to the throne laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to Polish soldiers on Thursday to thank troops who have formed a defence against Russian soldiers near the Ukrainian border.
Prince William stood at the foot of the monument in Warsaw before he met with Polish Prime Minister Andrzej Duda at the Presidential Palace.
He finished up his trip, visiting a local food hall for Ukrainians.
WILLIAM’S SECRET VISIT TO TROOPS
On Wednesday local time, Prince William made a secret visit to a military base near the Ukrainian border to thank Polish and British troops for “defending our freedoms”.
The Prince of Wales’ visit to Rzeszow in southeastern Poland was kept quiet over security concerns until he left and arrived in the capital Warsaw.
“Thank you for all you are doing out here,” he told British and Polish soldiers.
He said he wanted to thank them in person for “keeping everyone safe” and “keeping an eye on what’s going on”.
“So, just a big thank you for what you do on a day-to-day basis,” he said.
“You’re doing a really important job out here and defending our freedoms is really important, and everyone back home thoroughly supports you.”
British, US and Polish troops are at the base to help secure Poland’s airspace and to aid support to Ukraine and Prince William’s trip to Rzeszow, a city in southeastern Poland, was “a personal mission” to “recognise their duty” of service personnel largely consisting of the Royal Artillery Regiment, sources close to the future King said.
Rzeszow is around 80km from the Ukrainian border.
On landing in Warsaw, the Prince of Wales said: “It’s fantastic to be back in Poland.
“Our nations have strong ties. Through our co-operation in support of the people of Ukraine and their freedom, which are also our freedoms and yours, these ties are further strengthened.
“I’m here because I want to personally thank the Polish and British troops working in close and crucial partnership.”
The heir to the throne also visited a Ukrainian refugee centre in Warsaw where he met some of the 300 women and children housed there.
He praised the strong ties between the people of the UK and Poland, and the co-operation undertaken in support of Ukraine.
“I also want to pay tribute to the inspiring humanity of the Polish people,’’ the prince said. “You have opened your hearts as much as your homes.’’
The trip marked Prince William’s first trip to Poland since he visited in 2017 with his wife the Princess of Wales.
Last May, before he was king, King Charles III went to Romania to meet Ukrainian refugees – the first visit from a senior royal to the region since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Poland is a strong ally of Ukraine one of the largest suppliers of military equipment.
