Prince William has released a brief statement as the Royal Family continues to make headlines for King Charles and Princess Catherine’s health conditions - and the conspiracy theories surrounding the 42-year-old princess.

“His focus is on his work and not on social media,” a spokesman for the Prince of Wales told People magazine in a new cover story.

The comment comes one day after Princess Catherine’s name was listed on the official army website as leading the annual review of soldiers at Horse Guards Parade in London on June 8, following her January abdominal surgery. However, her office at Kensington Palace said they hadn’t been consulted about her appearance, according to a report in the New York Post.

Princess Catherine’s name has now been removed from the website.

Details on the princess’ surgery has remained private, with the Palace stating that it was “successful”.

“It is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement said in January. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,” the statement continued. “Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.”

Last week, the Palace insisted she was still “doing well” when Prince William had to drop out of attending his godfather’s memorial last-minute for “personal reasons.”

As even more conspiracy theories ran rampant about the Princess of Wales’ whereabouts, the Palace was forced to release another statement addressing the rumours.

“Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates,” a spokesman said. “That guidance stands.”

While Prince William completely ignored a reporter during a visit to Wales last week who asked about his wife’s condition, the future queen herself was spotted for the very first time post-surgery while she was driven by her mother, Carole Middleton, near Windsor Castle earlier this week.

As Princess Catherine continues to recover, King Charles has been receiving treatments for an unspecified cancer.

It comes as King Charles carried out diplomatic audiences behind Palace walls.

The King, who is undergoing treatment for an unknown form of cancer, met with Algerian ambassador Nourredine Yazid and the ambassador for Mauritania, Samba Mamadou Ba at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday local time.

He also held a virtual meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The diplomatic audiences were the King’s first this year, and the first since his diagnosis.

On Tuesday, the King met with Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt at Buckingham Palace.

It comes as Queen Camilla is reportedly now on vacation after she stepped in to complete 13 extra royal engagements for her husband.

“Everybody feels unsettled by uncertainty, and there is too much uncertainty that is surrounding the monarchy right now,” royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told People.

“Queen Elizabeth used to say, ‘I need to be seen to be believed.’ It is important for Charles and his reign for the public to know a little bit more.”

She added: “The monarchy needs to be that anchor in times of trouble, and any sense of instability, which is inevitable when you have two of the key players out of action, is understandable.”

Catherine Mayer, who authored the biography Charles: The Heart of a King, said: “This is massively exposing how the Royal Family has gone from too many people to too few in a short space of time.”

King Charles’ condition too has been kept under wraps for the most part, as Prince William has been pulling double duty for the Royal Family. His estranged younger brother, Prince Harry, reportedly “offered to help” but the family will “manage” without him, according to King Charles’ former butler, Grant Harrold.

“Even though he has revealed that he has a form of cancer, that has done nothing to quell the speculation about how seriously ill he may or may not be,” Bedell Smith told People. “That is not doing the monarchy any favours. He is the head of state, and there are constitutional implications.”
