Mindy Kaling reacted to the online criticism that her friend Meghan Markle has faced since the release of her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
“You know, I had a great time,” Kaling said of her appearance on her pal’s new show during Thursday’s episode of The View.
“I noticed that whenever I do something, anything related to Meghan it becomes … big news,” Kaling added, reports Page Six.
The Mindy Project star then went on to address the TikTok videos that have surfaced dissecting the moment when the Duchess of Sussex corrected Kaling for not using her Sussex surname.
“We were making sandwiches and then they’ll push in on my face on TikTok and they’ll be like, ‘Look at this emotion you felt,’ and I honestly didn’t even remember it because we shot it like nine months ago,” Kaling explained.

Despite what critics have said of the new series, the actress enjoyed her time filming with Meghan, 43.
“I loved my time with Meghan,” Kaling gushed. “I’m also like, let her promote her show … it was great and really fascinating seeing the reaction.”
In the second episode of the series, titled “Welcome to the Party,” Meghan hosted Kaling for lunch and guided her on how to throw a tea party for children and their parents.
When Kaling, 45, said, “People wouldn’t believe that Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box,” Prince Harry’s wife quickly reminded her of her married name.
“It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now,” the Suits alum said.

The former working royal then went on to stress why her married name is “meaningful” to her.
“You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children,’” Markle told Kaling. “It just means so much to go, ‘This is our family name, our little family name.’”
The former actress — who married Harry in 2018 — shares two children with the Duke of Sussex including Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
After Meghan corrected Kaling on her show, Drew Barrymore made sure to not repeat the mistake when the “Dater’s Handbook” star appeared on the Drew Barrymore Show this week.
“This is the Fast Five with Meghan Sussex,” Barrymore said as she introduced a segment with Meghan in the episode that aired on Thursday.
Meghan’s new series gives viewers a closer look at her homemaking skills and stories on her morning routine with her family.
With Love, Meghan even includes titbits on the duchess’ own upbringing in Los Angeles.
Aside from Kaling, viewers can also see guest appearances from actress Abigail Spencer, chef Roy Choi and a cameo from Harry.
