Meghan Markle disregarded friendly advice from the Queen days before she married Prince Harry, according to a new book.
Her late Majesty had suggested Ms Markle seek help from Sophie, now the Duchess of Edinburgh, who was one of a few trusted royals in her inner circle.
But, instead of politely thanking or acknowledging the Queen’s suggestion, Ms Markle had only a three-word response: “I’ve got Harry,” veteran royal editor Robert Jobson reveals in his new book Our King: Charles III — The Man And The Monarch Revealed.
The new details come ahead of King Charles’s coronation in May, and growing speculation about whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend the event on May 6.
While the Queen tried to assist Ms Markle as she eased into her role as the Duchess of Sussex, Jobson’s book claims it was said that Sophie was “relieved” she would no longer have to curtsy to Ms Markle.
As per royal protocol Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, had to curtsy to Meghan as the Duchess of Sussex, because she was of higher rank in the royal household.
A friend of the couple said: “Sophie is relieved. She no longer has to curtsy to someone in the family who has not only left Royal duties but has spent the past three years criticising the institution that Sophie works so hard to support.”
Meanwhile, as the Coronation of King Charles III draws closer, commentators are speculating on the mood of the Sussexes after the couple were excluded from some arrangements for the big day.
Royal commentator Angela Levin told Sky News Australia that Harry and Meghan are probably “absolutely furious” as they have been denied balcony access at King Charles’ coronation on May 6.
“The authority and the kindness from them – nobody’s interested in,” she told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“So they won’t be there – I expect they are absolutely furious.”
In a touching display of father-son bonding on Saturday, Prince William and eldest child George enjoyed watching a football match between Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
The Prince of Wales was snapped alongside his son as the pair animatedly reacted to the game.
The father-son outing to watch their favoured team Aston Villa ended in celebration with their team victorious after scoring two goals in the second half.
With the score nil-nil until the second half, there were many tense moments shared between the pair with George’s facial expressions mirroring those of his father.
