Life and art collided when Queen Camilla met The Crown actor Helena Bonham Carter at The London Library.

The Queen attended a dinner which highlighted the library’s charitable work – namely supporting writers and increasing the resources they have available to the public.

Bonham Carter is library president and the Queen is its patron.

According to the Palace the pair “met and spoke” at the event.

“Her Majesty, as Patron, has supported the Library since 2012 and is a passionate champion of the benefits of reading at all ages,” a statement read.

The royals have an interesting relationship with The Crown which has at times portrayed them in ways which seem more relatable and at others – particularly in its final season which chronicled the tragedy which befell Princess Diana – touched on sore points.

Bonham Carter played the late Princess Margaret, sister to the late Queen Elizabeth, in two seasons of the fictionalised series.

However of all the royals, Queen Camilla appears to have a soft spot for The Crown.

Actor Dominic west who played Charles said he was gobsmacked when Queen Camilla jokingly referred to him as Your Majesty when they met in 2021.

Queen Camilla also had some fun when she hosted an event attended by actor Emerald Fennell who portrayed her in series four and five.

“It’s very reassuring to know that if I should fall off my perch at any moment, my fictional alter-ego is here to take over,” she said at the March 2022 event.

“So Emerald, be prepared!”

The Queen had the pleasure of meeting actor Stephen Fry who was a guest speaker at The London Library fundraiser.

Earlier this week, Queen Camilla’s husband King Charles paid tribute to Vogue’s Dame Anna Wintour’s contribution to fashion with the famed editor so touched she even removed her trademark sunglasses.

The Buckingham Palace social account made a cheeky reference to the absence of the shades when they posted a photo of the meeting complete with a sunglasses emoji.

“Congratulations Dame Anna Wintour!

Today at Buckingham Palace, The King presented the legendary Editor-in-Chief of @voguemagazine with the Order of the Companions of Honour for Services to Fashion.

Well done to all who received their honours today,” the post read.
