David Beckham was among a star-studded line-up at the King’s Foundation annual awards ceremony where Hollywood A-listers including Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet shook hands with King Charles III.
Beckham — who became ambassador for the foundation in 2024 — is tipped to be awarded a knighthood on June 14.
More than 200 guests attended the annual event at St James Palace in London on Thursday which also celebrated the charity foundation’s 35th anniversary.
King Charles was joined by Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Edward and Sophie to mark the charity’s milestone anniversary.
Actor Stanley Tucci, model and wife of singer Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, and BBC presenter Alan Titchmarsh were also there to celebrate the work of those who have contributed to the charity’s work across several sectors including education, sustainability, heritage, and environmental education.
Beckham is tipped to be on the honours list for King Charles’ Birthday Honours which will be announced on the King’s 76th birthday which is officially celebrated by the Trooping the Colour event each year.
The football legend — who was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2003 — has long been popular with the royal family and has been involved in several charity initiatives organised by King Charles and Prince William.
It’s the second royal event Beckham, 50, has attended in recent times after being seen sharing a laugh with the King and Queen Camilla last month at the Chelsea Flower Show in support of the King’s charity.
The new honour would be further recognition of the former England football captain’s sporting career and his contributions to British society.
