Princess Catherine has been short-listed for Time’s “Person of the Year”, as she was recognised for kick-starting an important “conversation about privacy and health for public figures.”
The Princess of Wales, 42, joins a list of other famous names up for the title including us President-elect Donald Trump, billionaire Elon Musk, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, US Vice President Kamala Harris, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum, controversial podcaster Joe Rogan and Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of late Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny.
The prestigious honour is given to an individual, group, or movement that significantly influences the world, whether the impact is positive or negative.
This year’s 2024 winner will be announced on Thursday US time, as they take the baton from singer Taylor Swift, who received the award in 2023.
Princess Catherine has spent much of the year out of the public eye after undergoing abdominal surgery in January.
Shortly after the procedure, she was diagnosed with cancer and began treatment, eventually announcing she was cancer-free.
Since sharing the news of her diagnosis in March, the princess has remained private, focusing on her recovery and health.
Most recently, she stepped out with her family at the annual Christmas carol service, dubbed “Together at Christmas,” at London’s Westminster Abbey.
PRINCE WILLIAM’S HEARTWARMING CHRISTMAS GESTURE
Prince William donned an apron and a huge smile has he served up Christmas lunch to the needy at homeless shelter The Passage in London.
The heir to the throne looked happy, bearded and relaxed in one of the charity’s aprons as he joined volunteers in West London.
He first visited the organisation 31 years ago with his mother, Princess Diana, looking slightly formal in a suit and tie and holding Christmas presents.
Decades later the Prince of Wales hugged head chef Claudette Hawkins and said: “Come on birthday girl, happy birthday. I won’t ask you what birthday it is.”
Ms Hawkins told The Sun, “He was helping serve lunch for the clients today, their Christmas lunch”.
Prince William asked one man: “Is this place helping enough?”
The man nodded as he responded.
Another man asked Prince William: “Have you heard, I’m getting married.”
The Prince of Wales responded by saying, “I know, I did hear about that, and congratulations.”
The royal, who wore a navy jumper underneath his kitchen apron, could be seen modestly plating turkey and vegetables to clients of the charity.
Ending homelessness is a priority for the Prince of Wales, who has said visiting shelters with his mother, Diana, has inspired his work.
It comes as the Wales’s are in full Christmas mode following Princess Catherine’s Together at Christmas carol concert.
Royal fans were especially struck by Princess Charlotte, 9, with some already noting similarities between her public demeanour and that of her late grandmother, Princess Diana.
The young princess’s middle names are Elizabeth Diana.
For the concert, Princess Charlotte joined her brothers, Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, six, wearing a maroon coat, which was paired with navy tights and dark Mary Jane shoes.
Charlotte styled her hair in her signature half up-do which was finished with a bow.
Writing on X, one user posted: “Princess Charlotte is really standing in her ballet pose.”
While a third one said: “Look at Charlotte’s ballet stance.”
It’s known that Charlotte is a ballet fan and has reportedly been taking weekly private ballet lessons at a dance school in south London.
Her proud mum Princess Catherine, who this year has been battling cancer, is also known to have taken her daughter to watch The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House in central London.
Charlotte was surprised last when ballet dancers performed right in front of her during the festive service – a secret Prince Louis had been keeping for weeks, according to the Princess of Wales, 42.
The young royal’s love of dance is a passion that links her with her late grandmother and is something that the late Princess Diana would no doubt be happy about.
