Liam Payne’s funeral is set to take place next week with the former One Direction star’s body to be flown back to Britain in the next 48 hours.
Payne’s body has been held in Argentina after he died falling from the third floor of his luxury hotel in Buenos Aires last month.
It now appears his body will finally be returned to Britain within 48 hours after all the official paperwork was completed, Argentinian daily La Nacion reports.
According to the outlet, Payne’s body could arrive back in the UK by Wednesday local time - with his funeral to be held in St Paul’s Cathedral in his native city of Wolverhampton.
An autopsy was conducted on Payne showed that he suffered 25 injuries in the fall that killed him.
It comes after it emerged that Payne was with Argentinian multi-millionaire Rogelio ‘Roger’ Nores in the hours before he died.
The two met at a dinner party in 2020 at the London home of former editor of British Vogue, Edward Enninful and quickly became good friends.

According to Page Six, Nores was with Payne hours before his death. He told the outlet: “I am heartbroken by the loss of my friend.”
An onlooker told the Daily Mail that the star was a on a “bender” leading up to his death, adding that Nores apologised to guests for the singer’s behaviour.
Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, allegedly did not like the fact that Nores and Payne were so close, a friend told Page Six, and believed the Argentinian was “too involved” in their lives.
Page Six obtained a letter from Nores that he wrote to Payne’s father, Geoff, and his management team in August. He expressed his worries after the star had only been clean for four months.
He wrote: “Liam stayed at my friend’s ranch down in Palm Beach and since the first day he arrived he was monitored and treated by professional doctors who specialise in addictions.
“He stayed fully clean without access to any hard drug (sic) during his whole stay. The plan was for him to work on the preparation for a music tour and stay healthy and busy with work. A plan he successfully followed during his whole stay in the US.”
Nores added: “I’m really concerned for his wellbeing while he is out there and I hope you can bring professional doctors to check on his health regularly as soon as possible as I did while he was out in the US.
“I am going to stay fully out of the picture and disconnected from now on and I wish you all the best with Liam’s health and career.”
