Julia Morris says she’s ‘done with sex’ after divorce

Julia Morris has opened up about why she ended her marriage after 16 years, describing the situation as “super sad”.

The I’m A Celebrity host and comedian, 54, revealed that she got to a point of deciding that she and ex-husband Dan Thomas were no longer setting “an example” of a positive relationship to their daughters.

While the split was amicable, Morris explains in the new edition of Australian Women’s Weekly – published via The Courier-Mail – that it was still “super sad”.

“But there’s a lot of layers happening at the same time. I’m famous for saying I feel like every year we’re going to break up,” she said.

“But it definitely gets to that same point, which is that we are just not necessarily growing in the same direction. And then once you’ve got that in your headspace, the other person starts to become quite a pest.

“I think that’s where patience starts to wear down to, ‘I’m not living like this. How is this an example for my girls that this is an OK life to lead? No thanks.’”

The TV personality added that she’d changed her outlook on life since undergoing therapy, and had become aware of certain personality traits, like her “odd people pleasing” and “compliance”.

“And my tendency to go way over the top to do something nice for people which would then take me 17 days to do,” she told the AWW.

“Chronic people-pleasing. And not speaking my truth, which seems unusual for someone as outspoken as I am. But my need to be liked was deeper than my need to get it right.”

Morris and Thomas first met in the early 2000s, and went on to tie the knot in Las Vegas in 2005.

The couple separated in 2021, with Morris later telling Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa the relationship had run its course.

“We were just time’s up. I was just like, ‘Are we seriously doing this?’ and he was like, ‘I know’,” she said.

“I just think with work and life and definitely raising children, we just got lazy in the end.”
