JoJo Siwa has left fans scratching their heads after she posed for a very risqué photo shoot for Ladygunn magazine.
The singer still rocked her signature Dance Moms sparkle, but her choice of attire was far from the bubblegum-pop look that made her a household name.
Posing for the double cover of the mag, the 21-year-old wore a bedazzled chest plate which she teamed with an equally blinged-out jockstrap.
As she squatted on one cover, Siwa capped off her look with a pair of embellished gold combat boots. In her second cover, she showed off her guns while still rocking the chest plate, which bizarrely featured added nipples and abs.
“Karma is still an earworm,” she was quoted in a caption referencing her hit single released five months ago, as shared by Ladygunn’s official Instagram.
“It’s crazy that it still has some relevance five months later. And that’s the whole point.”
While Siwa was proud of what she and photographer Hope Glassel created for the magazine, her bold photo shoot was met with some negative comments from dazed and confused fans.
“No hate, I’m honestly just confused,” one wrote, while another joked, “It’s not a good day to have eyes.”
“I’m uncomfortable,” another chimed in, with one user commenting, “Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimised by JoJo Siwa.”
“What in the world. no this isn’t it!” commented another fan, while one begged, “Girl please no.”
It wasn’t all negative. Her interesting photo shoot was also praised by supportive fans who thought she really “served” with her bold looks.
“Omg, this is soooo camp i’m loving it,” one wrote, as another commented, “If Lady Gaga did this be honest y’all would eat it up.”
“Legendary!!!!” another concluded.
This isn’t the first time the pop star has left fans perplexed by her transformation.
After releasing her racy music video for Karma, the star then walked the red carpet at the iHeart Radio Music Awards in LA in an eye-catching mesh body shirt complete with theatrical make-up inspired by rock band KISS.
She was again met with naysayers, but Siwa, who sees herself as a trailblazer, did not care.
“No one has made this dramatic of a change yet. No one has made, in my generation, this extreme of a switch,” she later said on the red carpet at the GLAAD Awards.
“I am the first of the generation. It is very scary, but someone’s got to do it.”
