HILARY Duff shocked listeners when she revealed on air that she has joined popular dating app Tinder and is totally hooked.
“It’s true, I’m on Tinder,” the recently single actress said on Los Angeles radio show Valentine in the Morning, adding that she is talking to “nine guys right now” but is unsure if any of them know she’s famous.
Duff split from her husband Mike Comrie last year and admitted last month that she realised after a couple of years of marriage that they were not the right match.
The 27-year-old Lizzie McGuire star’s profile was discovered over the weekend by a Reddit user. Unfortunately for the eager single (who obviously swiped right), Duff wasn’t interested. “Bad news guys. No match from the Duffster. My dreams are shattered,” he posted.
The mother-of-one explained on the radio show why she joined the dating app. “I was sitting with my friends one night at the house and we were joking around,” she said. “In my life, I have always had really serious boyfriends. I’ve always met people through work and I have never been on a blind date. And so, what’s the worst that could happen?”
Duff isn’t the first celebrity to be spotted on Tinder. Last week, it was reported that Leonardo DiCaprio had also signed up. News broke that the Wolf of Wall Street star had been doing some Tinder trolling after a source spilled that they had chatted on the app while at Coachella music festival.
The 40-year-old is apparently swiping away under the pseudonym ‘Leonard’ but hasn’t gone on any dates yet.
Could Leo, who famously only dates leggy, model-types, be finally dipping into the pool of civilian dating? Maybe.
Lindsay Lohan was happily swiping her way through Tinder’s offerings last year when she came across her own brother Michael.
The Mean Girls star posted a screenshot of his profile on Instagram, along with the caption: “Look who I just found on @tinderapp ... hey bro.”
He may not be on it yet, but Chris Pine has expressed an interest in joining the app.
“I have a couple of buddies who use Tinder. Whatever eases the process is great, since it can be awkward or uncomfortable meeting someone,” the Star Trek hunk told Cosmopolitan.
Despite being married with two children, Lily Allen caused a bit of commotion when she revealed she had signed up for the app. “Just discovered tinder,” the singer wrote on Twitter. “*waves goodbye to life*”
Katy Perry said last year that she loves scrolling through Tinder. Asked if she was still single after calling it quits with John Mayer, the 29-year-old singer told a US radio station: “I’m really deep on Tinder so I don’t have a whole lot of time.”
And of course, our very own Shane Warne has been known to use the app. The 45-year-old cricketer landed himself in a bit of hot water earlier this year after an Adelaide mother-of-two cashed in on her “raunchy sex romp” with Warnie after meeting on Tinder.
“I thought it was hilarious he was on Tinder … I didn’t really think it was him,” the woman told Woman’s Day magazine, detailing their wild night.
