Charlize Theron and Sean Penn ‘call it quits’

CHARLIZE Theron and Sean Penn have reportedly called off their engagement after the Mad Max star decided the romance had run its course.

CHARLIZE Theron and Sean Penn have reportedly called it quits.

The Hollywood couple started dating in December 2013 and secretly got engaged in December 2014, but sources say the pair has now parted ways.

US Weekly reports it was Theron, 39, who broke things off, with the Mad Max: Fury Road star feeling the romance had run its course after returning from the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Just two months ago, Theron was gushing about the 54-year-old fellow Oscar winner in an interview with Esquire. “I’m a very, very, very lucky girl,” she said, adding, “He is hot.”

Similarly, in an interview with Esquire UK in March, Penn said he was ready to be a husband after his previous failed marriages.

The I Am Sam actor was famously married to Madonna from 1985 to 1989, followed by House of Cards star Robin Wright from 1996 to 2010.

He and Wright have two children together, Dylan and Hopper.

Theron, who adopted three-year-old son Jackson in 2012, previously dated actors Craig Bierko and Stuart Townsend.

The A-listers had been friends for nearly two decades before they started dating. Their reps are yet to comment on reports of the split.
