Hollywood acting legend Gene Hackman’s cause of death has finally been confirmed in an autopsy two months after the Oscar-winning star’s passing.

According to the Office of the Medical Investigator in New Mexico, a final autopsy obtained by Fox News Digital shows that Hackman had a “history of congestive heart failure” in addition to “severe chronic hypertensive changes, kidneys.”

“Neurodegenerative features consistent with Alzheimer’s disease,” were also noted in the autopsy.

The French Connection star had a “bi-ventricular pacemaker” placed in April 2019, documents stated.

“Autopsy showed severe atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, with placement of coronary artery stents and a bypass graft, as well as a previous aortic valve replacement,” the documents stated.

In another disturbing discovery, the autopsy found Hackman had acetone in his stomach, which indicated that he had not eaten at all in the time between Betsy’s death and his own death a week later.

The 95-year-old star was tragically found dead in his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, along with his wife Betsy Arakawa, 65, on February 26.

The circumstances surrounding their death remained a mystery for weeks, with investigators eventually concluding that classical pianist Betsy died one week prior to her husband after she contracted hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare rodent-borne respiratory disease.

Hackman tested negative for hantavirus, the report found.

A week after finding their bodies, the New Mexico Department of Public Health conducted a thorough inspection of the pair’s estate, which was overrun with rodents and in a state of disarray.

Upon entering the property, authorities also discovered a dead dog, and another one of their beloved pets “guarding’ Arakawa’s body in the bathroom.

Despite the tragic circumstances of their last days together, discoveries within the house showed a picture of a devoted couple, with love notes and handwritten messages between the pair found.
