Christian Wilkins spills on ‘major drama’ behind racy ARIA Awards outfit

Christian Wilkins has spilled on the “major drama” around his racy red carpet look and the big thing he “didn’t realise” until he saw the photos.

It’s the question that plenty of people have been asking this year as Christian has gone from being known as the son of media personality Richard Wilkins to a bona fide star, in the vein of Gwyneth Paltrow outshining her already established parents actor Blythe Danner and director-producer Bruce Paltrow.

He isn’t just the son of Richard anymore; he is the moment.

When Christian was tasked with co-hosting the red carpet for the ARIA Awards, he managed to outshine all the guests in a see-through gown that garnered him the kind of attention any celebrity can only dream of.

Christian said that his naked dress was actually a “major drama” to pull off in time and he didn’t quite realise how risqué it was until he saw the photos online.

“It only arrived the night before and I didn’t realise it was quite so nude. In my bedroom lighting and in person, it shimmered with golden crystals, but in photos, well … hello underpants,” he told news.com.au.

The 28-year-old is a glam of all trades; he is an actor, model, presenter, author, influencer and is already a fashion icon.

Christian tears up the outdated gender rule book and plays with styles, prints, colours. He has made it clear that men can look just as good as women in dresses; actually, they can look better.

The entertainer always stands out in a sea of men in navy blazers and beige chino pants, cementing him as, not just someone to watch, but often the only one worth watching on red carpets.

For Christian, fashion isn’t just something he wears. It occupies a fair amount of his brain space. He is the definition of invested.

“I fall asleep planning outfits and dreaming of places to wear them,” he explained.

Surprisingly, he doesn’t see himself as someone with a traditionally “good” fashion sense, but that doesn’t mean he holds back.

“I style myself and, while I’ve never claimed to have good fashion, I definitely think I have fun with it, and hope that people have fun seeing the stuff I wear too,” he said.

He has also become known for his incredible body; his naked dress revealed how muscular, toned and fit he is.

He could give Michelle Bridges or Chris Hemsworth a run for their money. Sure, Hemsworth got into incredible shape for Thor and Bridges whole career is fitness, but what is Christian’s motivation?

He said his relationship with exercise comes from a place of wanting his mental health to be in good shape.

“I suffered from anxiety in my late teens, which is when I started running and lost some puppy fat I had, and this totally gave me this new-found confidence,” he said.

Christian explained that these days he takes a more thoughtful approach to his workouts, but the goal has stayed the same.

“I’m trying to gain more muscle, so I have switched my heavy cardio days for heavy lifting days. I love walking into the gym and showing all these muscled beefy guys I can lift almost as much as them,” he revealed.

As for his diet, Christian keeps it simple by embracing healthy over fad.

“My mum is Greek, so food has always been a big part of my life; I was that kid at school who was sent in with falafels and vegetables and have always loved snacking on fruits and veggies ever since,” he said.

Christian is now a pescetarian who focuses on making sure any plate he consumes doesn’t look dull.

“I try to focus on filling my plate with as many organic, colourful, whole foods as possible,” he said.

When it comes to his beauty routine and keeping his skin looking flawless and his hair looking as healthy as Jennifer Aniston’s, he does have tricks that keep him looking model ready.

“I’m a big believer in ingestibles! From being on set, my hair has seen a lot of damage, so I take Vida Glow Hairology every day, and hand on heart can see the difference. Skincare wise, it changes every day because I get a lot of products sent to me and I want to try them all,” he said.

Although Christian isn’t brand loyal when it comes to skincare he does have his methods to keeping a glow.

“Always an under-eye cream … I remember growing up in the halls of Channel Nine and the make-up girls telling me one day they can always tell when someone uses an under-eye cream or not. It stuck with me,” he confessed.

So, is he dating? Undoubtedly, he has become one of the most eligible bachelors.

“I’m not, I was on Raya for a minute but to no great luck,” he said.

“I’m actually quite independent, I love my alone time, and if I’m out with friends I’m out with friends and kind of have my blinders on to other potential romantic partners.”
