Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter reportedly in critical condition after quad bike accident

BRITNEY Spears’ eight-year-old niece is reportedly in a critical but stable condition after an accident that saw her trapped underwater in a vehicle for several minutes.

POP superstar Britney Spears has asked fans for their wishes and prayers for her niece, who remains in a critical condition after a horrific vehicle accident.

Maddie Aldridge, the 8-year-old daughter of Britney’s sister Jamie Lynn Spears is reportedly in a critical but stable condition after suffering injuries in an all-terrain vehicle accident in the US state of Louisiana.

TMZ reported that Spears’ daughter was underwater for several minutes after an ATV that she was riding flipped over and landed upside down in a pond. The girl was airlifted to a local hospital, according to the report.

It is understanstood that Jamie Lynn and her husband watched in horror as Maddie’s vehicle flipped, and scrambled to free her from her safety belt.

A police report says that Maddie was steering the vehicle to avoid running over a nearby drainage ditch. “In doing so, she overcorrected causing the ATV to enter the pond,” the report (via People) says. “The ATV and child were instantly submerged in the water right before their eyes.”

The report continues, “Within seconds the child’s mother, stepfather and other family members reached the pond, dove in and attempted to rescue the child to no avail. The child was trapped and secured by the seatbelt and the ATV’s safety netting. Within two minutes, Acadian Ambulance Services arrived and assisted in freeing the child from the cold waters.”

A rep for Britney Spears told Fox News, “The details the media are reporting surrounding the incident regarding Jamie Lynn’s daughter Maddie are incorrect. Right now the Spears family asks that everyone respect their privacy during this time and appreciates all the prayers and support for their family.” The rep did not further elaborate which facts were incorrect.

Spears’ father told ET, “All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie.”

A rep for Jamie Lynn did not return Fox News’ request for comment.

Jamie Lynn Spears was 16 when she announced she was pregnant. At the time she was engaged to the father Casey Aldridge, but is now married to Jamie Winston.
