‘Can’t walk’: Miriam Margolyes reveals her health is deteriorating quickly

Beloved actress Miriam Margolyes has revealed that her health has begun to deteriorate dramatically in recent months.

British actress Miriam Margolyes’ health has taken a tragic turn.

Margolyes, known for playing herbology Professor Sprout in Harry Potter, has opened up about suffering from spinal stenosis in a heartbreaking new interview.

The controversial star has revealed that her health has been deteriorating quickly, and now she’s even finding it difficult to walk.

“I can’t walk very well, and I’m registered disabled,” the 83-year-old told Closer.

“I use all kinds of assistance. I’ve got two sticks and a walker, and they’re such a bore. But I’ve just got a mobility scooter, which is a lot of fun.

“It’s like having a new toy. It’s very good for shopping because it’s got a basket on it, and I do enjoy whizzing around on it immensely.”

Spinal stenosis is diagnosed “when the space inside the backbone is too small” which can “put pressure on the spinal cord and nerves that travel through the spine.”

She recently acknowledged that as her health continues to worsen, she will have to become OK with using a wheelchair and losing her mobility.

Despite being ill, Margolyes has appeared in numerous TV shows over the last few years, and even travelled over to Australia earlier this year when she made a controversial appearance on The Project.

She’s now revealed that she is forced to continue to work in order to have enough money for her care bills.

She recently told Radio Times: “I’m worried that I won’t have enough money for carers when I finally get paralysed or whatever it is that’s going to happen to me”.

Despite grappling with physical constraints due to spinal stenosis and her age, which she finds “limiting and depressing”, she said she refuses to slow her pace.

“When you know that you haven’t got long to live and I’m probably going to die within the next five or six years, if not before, I’m loath to leave behind performing. It’s such a joy.”

Margolyes last year earned nearly $500,000 for her memoir, and has previously claimed to have earned a whopping $700,000 from filming videos for fans on Cameo since 2020.
