Jennifer Lopez has cancelled her This Is Me Tour amid rumours over a split between her and husband Ben Affleck.
The popstar announced on Friday she was cancelling the remainder of the tour to spend more time with her family.
According to the New York Post, JLo’s move is “due to a sensitive time in her personal life”. In a message to her fans, Lopez, 54, wrote, “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down.”
The Atlas actress continued, “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.
“I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”
Live Nation announced that the summer tour, This Is Me… Live, which was scheduled to begin June 26 in Orlando, Florida, was cancelled in a statement.
It read, “Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends.”
Jennifer shares twins Max and Emme, 16, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, 55, and stepchildren Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, with her husband Ben Affleck, 51.
The New York Post added that the tour cancelation was due to personal reasons and wanting to spend time with her kids, not because of poor ticket sales.
JENNIFER LOPEZ AND BEN AFFLECK’S LOVE LIFE LAID BARE
Jenny from the Block may say she still knows where she came from, but clearly Jennifer Lopez has amnesia when it comes to the checkered history of her romance with Ben Affleck.
Despite recently shelling out A$30 million on a self-funded documentary titled The Greatest Love Story Never Told, Bennifer continues to be plagued by split rumours.
Although Lopez been seen out and about with her wedding ring in recent days and the couple made a brief appearance together in public this week, the speculation persists there is trouble in paradise.
Lopez, 54, was asked about the divorce rumours by a journliast while in Mexico promoting her new Netflix movie Atlas.
“Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumours?” she was asked at press conference in Mexico City. “What is the truth? What is the truth of the situation?”
While her co-star Simu Liu tried to close down the questioning, Lopez leaned forward in her chair before staring straightat the reporter saying “You know better than that”.
So let’s rewind.
IF YOU HAD MY LOVE
It was 2002 when it all started out like a Hollywood dream.
The world held its collective breath as A-list superstars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were falling in love on the set of what would later be referred to as one of the worst movies ever made.
While fans and critics alike hated Gigli (it grossed just A$10.8 million despite costing a whopping $113.4 million to make) they were obsessed with the real-life romance which blossomed. Bennifer was born.
The next thing we knew, Affleck was starring in the music video for Lopez’s number one hit Jenny from the Block, caressing JLo’s famous behind and fixing the camera with the kind of smouldering glances which made female fans swoon for the Sum of All Fears star.
Soon after, Lopez was sporting a six carat pink diamond engagement ring which sparked a trend as women worldwide dropped hints they too wanted to be proposed to with the rare gem.
But sadly, it wasn’t to last.
GONE GIRL
It was recently revealed in Lopez’s new documentary, that the pair broke up just days before their original wedding day.
“We had a big wedding planned – 14 ushers and bridesmaids and three days before we just crumbled under the pressure,” Lopez said in the documentary citing media scrutiny as the primary reason behind the split.
It wasn’t long before both Affleck and Lopez went on to re-partner and marry the people who would end up becoming their co-parents.
Affleck, quickly became smitten with his Pearl Harbor and Daredevil co-star, Jennifer Garner.
Ben and his new Jen welcomed three kids during their 11 year relationship – daughter Violet, 18, son Samuel, 12, and non-binary child Fin, 15.
Meanwhile Lopez married musician Marc Anthony whom she was with for a total of seven years.
The couple share 16-year-old twins Max and Emme. Like her new stepsibling, Emme is also non-binary.
Both marriages eventually broke down and while Lopez and Affleck both dated around for a few years, they found themselves inexorably drawn back to one another.
In 2021 Bennifer was officially back and this time they actually made it to the alter in 2022.
All went well at first with the families appearing to blend seamlessly.
Garner even took Lopez’s child Emme, who has bonded with her teen Fin after they both came out as non-binary, on a trip to Disneyland.
Then came the first signs this was not to be a happily ever after.
LET’S GET LOUD
In February 2023, Affleck’s pained expression as he accompanied Lopez to the Grammys was turned into a meme.
Paparazzi footage emerged of an argument between the pair in May 2023 which ended with Ben slamming a car door in Jen’s face.
As recently as February, the couple appeared to make light of their notoriously fiery relationship in a commercial for Dunkin’ Doughnuts – which aired during the 2024 Superbowl – and showed a furious Lopez kicking Affleck out of her recording studio.
So does Jenny from the Block really know where she and Affleck came from with their past of break ups and bickering?
If split rumours are true, maybe it’s now all coming back to her.
