Embattled former Seven star Andrew O’Keefe has been charged with drug possession two days after a suspected heroin overdose.

O’Keefe was arrested at around 2pm on Monday after presenting himself to Rose Bay police station.

He drove himself to the police station on New South Head Road, in Sydney before, getting out of his vehicle and reportedly becoming involved in an argument with photographers.

He walked into the station and was then seen exiting the building accompanied by three officers who took him away in the back of a police car.

His belt, spectacles and shoes had been removed.

A NSW Police spokesman confirmed that O’Keefe had been taken into custody.

“About 2.25pm today a 52-year-old man was arrested at Rose Bay Police Station in relation to an alleged breach of bail incident,” he said.

Police allegedly found drugs in O’Keefe’s car shortly after he was arrested.

On Monday evening, NSW Police confirmed that O’Keefe was charged with breach of bail and possess prohibited drug.

O’Keefe was refused bail and will appear at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday.

It comes after the troubled star had to be revived by paramedics after reportedly overdosing on heroin over the weekend.

Paramedics were called to an address in Vaucluse just after 3.30am Saturday, where they revived O’Keefe.

He was then taken to St Vincent’s hospital, according to The Daily Telegraph.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics rendered assistance to the man before taking him to St Vincent’s Hospital where he was reported to be in a stable condition.

“Inquiries into the incident are continuing,” added police.

O’Keefe has been approached for comment.

It comes just days after the disgraced former TV personality failed to convince a judge he did not assault a woman during an argument in 2021.

He was found guilty in January of common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contravening an apprehended violence order and possessing a prohibited drug.

He denied the charges, arguing on appeal that the victim inflicted the injuries herself.

But a district court judge said he was “satisfied beyond reasonable doubt” of O’Keefe’s guilt in relation to the assault and found it “very hard to accept” the bruising suffered by the woman was “innocent”.

O’Keefe told journalists he was “very disappointed” with the judgment but he would not continue to fight it.

However, the judge did overturn other charges for drug possession after finding it could not be proven items found in a lockbox in O’Keefe’s apartment belonged to him.

During the assault in September 2021, O’Keefe was found to have pushed the woman into a doorway, punched her with the heel of the hand and forced her to the ground, before kicking her in the thigh and using his nails to scratch her chest.

O’Keefe admitted the argument occurred, but maintained he accidentally fell into the woman due to their proximity rather than pushing her.

O’Keefe previously hosted Weekend Sunrise and a number of game shows including Deal or No Deal until his contract with the Seven Network expired at the end of 2020.

Last month, O’Keefe was seen smiling as he left court on other charges.

He appeared before Waverley Local Court after being charged with intimidation and breaching an apprehended violence order.

Police alleged O’Keefe threatened a man at an address in Point Piper shortly before he was stopped while driving and allegedly found in possession of a crack pipe.

The court was told in July that O’Keefe allegedly confronted the man “potentially as a matter of jealousy” following a “rekindling” with his former partner.

The prosecutor at the time said O’Keefe had made admissions to having put one foot through the door despite knowing he was “not supposed to be” at the property.

The court was told O’Keefe was found after the alleged intimidation with a crack pipe in his jacket pocket and was drug affected, but he has not been charged with any drug-related offences.

In December 2023, O’Keefe avoided court after he pleaded guilty to driving with drugs in his system.

He was stopped in his Mercedes C200 in Point Piper, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, in January of the same year.

After failing an initial saliva test, he was taken to a police station for a secondary test, which returned a positive test result for methamphetamine when it was sent away for analysis. The star was charged with one count of driving a vehicle with illicit drugs present in his blood.
