Welcome to our coverage of the official inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States.

For all the pomp, parade and politics, you can follow our US correspondents on the ground in Washington D.C., who are filing live updates here.

For those who are more interested in which celebrities attended, who performed, and any gossipy moments from Capitol Hill, this article is your safe place.

We didn’t have a provocative outfit at a presidential inauguration on our bingo card, but Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez, a former TV reporter, caused a stir for flaunting a visible lace bra.

A video has since gone viral appearing to show Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg making eye contact with Sanchez’s, ahem, chest region as he stood next to her during formalities.

“Mark Zuckerberg was caught fact-checking,” one user wrote on X.

“I would hate for this picture of Mark Zuckerberg staring down the shirt of Jeff Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sanchez during Donald Trump’s inauguration to go viral,” another joked.

Sanchez, 55, who shot to notoriety as an entertainment reporter on Extra and later Fox Sports, became engaged to the billionaire businessman in May 2023 after three years of dating.

The pair earlier embarked on an extramarital affair in 2018, which led Bezos, 61, to his divorce his wife MacKenzie Scott, whom he was with for 25 years.

Viewers watching from home took to social media to question why Sanchez opted for such a daring look at a formal event.

“Why is Jeff Bezos wife dressed so provocatively for such a formal occasion,” one wrote.

One user shared this photo of Sanchez, asking "why" she was dressed "provocatively" for such a formal event.

“Jeff Bezos future wife Lauren Sanchez is incredibly inappropriately dressed for a state occasion. Someone should have told her that having her white lace bra out on display is not acceptable,” another said.

“Jeff Bezos’ fiancee Lauren Sanchez wears white lingerie top as she attends Trump’s Inauguration,” a third wrote.

“Good grief, Lauren Sanchez,” a fourth added.

Former US ambassador Joe Hockey appeared on the Today show shortly after the inauguration, where he probably wasn’t expecting to be asked about Sanchez’s outfit.

Giggling like a school kid as vision of Sanchez flashed onscreen, Hockey said there had definitely been a “transition” in Washington.

“What are you laughing at Joe?” co-host Karl Stefanovic cheekily asked.

“Well, there’s been there’s been a transition in Washington,” Hockey awkwardly replied. “There’s a lot of people with a lot of cosmetic surgery. There’s a lot of people come up from Florida these last few days... Slightly confronting, but I think there’s definitely been a change in the guard.”

Carrie Underwood’s performance plagued by issues

In terms of the biggest headline act for the formalities, Mr Trump’s camp managed to rally a fairly big name to perform America The Beautiful.

Former American Idol winner and country music star Carrie Underwood delivered the traditional inauguration patriotic song, previously sung by Jennifer Lopez for Joe Biden’s swearing-in in 2021.

Her performance was marred by nightmare tech problems, with guests and those watching from home forced to sit through an unplanned minute of silence waiting for the music to start.

Unfortunately, the tech team didn’t get it together and Underwood was forced to sing a cappella.

A man wearing headphones approached Underwood to inform her the sound wasn’t working, with Underwood seemingly mouthing, “A cappella? Just sing it?”

“You know the words, help me out there,” Underwood said, before beginning.

While not quite JLo level celebrity, Underwood was a significant get compared to Mr Trump’s 2017 inauguration, in whichThe Tabernacle Choir delivered the song.

“I love our country and am honoured to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said in a statement last week.

“I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

Meanwhile, brothers Jake and Logan Paul, who found fame posting videos on social media before turning to boxing and wrestling, respectively, were seen at the inauguration.

Elsewhere, opera singer Christopher Macchio sang the national anthem.

Hollywood reacts to Trump’s presidency

Celebrities, from both the right and left, have reacted now America has officially entered the Trump-Vance era.

TV personality Meghan McCain declared she had “high hopes” for the Trump administration.

“I truly hope Trump accomplishes everything he says he will. Congratulations to Republicans - wokeness is dead and the democrat brand is in ashes. Let’s try not to screw it up,” she wrote on X.

The official X account for The Daily Show, the satirical news program, posted, “As of 12:02 EST, we officially declare an end to Dry January.”

Emmy nominated comedian Randy Rainbow quipped, “What’s everyone up to? Michelle O and I are watching Wicked at mine,” jokingly referencing Michelle Obama’s decision not to attend the inauguration.

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill re-shared an infamous tweet Mr Trump uploaded in January 2021 after he lost the presidential election, in which he made the unprecedented decision not to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration.

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be acknowledging the inauguration on January 20th,” Hamill wrote.

Snoop Dogg – a longtime critic of Mr Trump – surprised fans when he hit the stage at the president elect’s Crypto Ball at the weekend, while Nelly copped backlash for agreeing to perform at the inauguration.

While the inauguration typically takes place in front of the US Capitol, it was moved indoors due to the unusually cold forecast.
