Scott Cam has revealed his sneaky Logies trick to ensure he’s never empty-handed at TV’s night of nights.

The Block host, who is gearing up for the premiere of the Channel 9 renovation show this Sunday, attended the annual awards show at The Star in Sydney at the weekend, and has since revealed his years-long tactic to be at the top of the list when it comes to drinks service.

Speaking to Triple M’s Mick & MG in the Morning, Cam revealed it was notoriously difficult to get a beverage at the televised awards, saying waiters can only approach tables during commercial breaks.

But Cam has figured out a way around it.

“I did do what I always do every year … You know what it’s like to get a drink at the Logies, it’s a bit tough,” he said.

“So the young bloke [waiter] turned up, I said, ‘My name’s Scott. Phil? Lovely to meet you. Here’s $50 in your pocket, and if I’m happy with your service at the end, there’s another $50 for you, so there’s $100 cash here champion’.”

Cam – a former Gold Logie winner – is fronting the nineteenth season of The Block, which will debut at 7pm on Sunday.

The 2023 series was shot in Melbourne’s Hampton East on Charming Street.

While reports swirled in recent weeks that Cam was set to leave the show after the latest season following 13 years fronting the program, a Nine spokesperson denied the claims, telling news.com.au last week, “The report is not true”.

Cam recently said working on the show was “never a drag”, adding he was thrilled to be kicking off another season this year.

“This series is guaranteed to be a deadset blockbuster,” he said last month.

“Our five new teams from across the country are all fired up to make their home states proud.”

This year’s season is inspired by the 1950s, also known as the Golden Age, with contestants given the challenge to revamp five houses built and designed in that decade.

The homes will be fitted with all their original furnishings and structures still in place from 70 years ago.
