Rock star St Vincent reveals very personal news at Grammys

A rock star has left her fans shocked after revealing something very personal during her emotional Grammys speech.

Big Grammys moment we all missed

Rock star St Vincent has shocked her fans by revealing some very personal news during her acceptance speech at the 67th Grammy Awards.

The musician, whose real name is Anne Clark, proudly took home awards for best alternative music album, best alternative music performance and best rock song for ‘Broken Man’.

In her emotional acceptance speech, the 42-year-old stunned the audience by thanking her wife and daughter.

It was the first time the artist revealed that she was a wife and mother, leaving her fans overjoyed at this incredibly wholesome revelation.

“Thank you so much. This is just a delight, a real delight,” she beamed.

“First, I want to thank my family, my beautiful wife Leah, our beautiful daughter.”

She also gave shout outs to her collaborators, team, and fellow nominees.

Clark is well known for remaining tight-lipped about her personal life and acknowledged this during a backstage media interview after her wins.

When one journalist said they were “totally unaware” about her marital status, the musician replied that “most people were”, revealing that she and her wife have tried their best to keep their marriage out of the public eye.

“She’s young, we’ve kept it under wraps,” she said, before quickly clarifying.

“The child is young, just to be clear, the child is young, not the wife!”

She added that she and her family had plans to celebrate her Grammy wins with her sister, but said she fully intended “to be in bed by 10” that night.

Last year, Clark opened up to Billboard about her experience as a queer woman, where she said: “I’m queer. I know how to code-switch. The idea of identity as performance has been very clear to me since I was a child.”

She also weighed in on this year’s LGBTQ crop of nominees, saying, “There have always been queer people in the history of the world and especially in music, and so I think there’s a bunch of queer people celebrated this year especially. And that’s great, of course it’s great. Empathy and humanity, let’s go.”

Last year, she opened up to PEOPLE about finding “the greatest love” of her life.

“Do I believe in happy endings? Sure. Why not?” she said.

“I consider myself a very measured optimist because I think it can be very overwhelming.

“It’s overwhelming to be alive. It’s impossible to be alive. But we get to do it.”

In her latest studio album All Born Screaming, which featured ‘Broken Man’, Clark said she wrote from a vulnerable place.

“It’s a direct reflection of what I’m living through at the time and how I’m trying to make sense of any of it,” she told the outlet.

“On this one, I just wanted it to sound and genuinely be as raw as possible.

“Anything that felt ironic in a way that would create distance between me and a listener didn’t get to stay.”

Before her big Grammy wins, Clark made headlines over the weekend after taking the stage with the two surviving members of Nirvana, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic for the Los Angeles FireAid concert.

She was also joined by vocalists Kim Gordon, Joan Jett and Violet Grohl, the 18-year-old daughter of Dave Grohl.

Money raised as part of the FireAid benefit concert, as well as direct donations made via the website, will be distributed by Annenberg Foundation – a charity that provides support to non-profit organisations.
