MORE students received their Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET) than ever before this year.
The record breaking year in Territory education has also seen the highest number of Aboriginal students complete their NTCET, with 221 receiving their certificates.
Darwin High School has the honour of producing this year’s top NTCET student. Lachlan Anderson received an ATAR of 99.75 and a university aggregate of 88.60.
Lachlan was closely followed by Casuarina Senior College student Joel Park.
The top Aboriginal student was Monique Chong of St Philip’s College in Alice Springs.
In another record, this year also marks the highest completion rate in NTCET history, with 73.9 per cent of students enrolled in Year 12 receiving their certificates.
This is the ninth year the NTCET has been awarded.
116 students received an ATAR score in the top 10 per cent of Australia, while a total of 47 A+ Merits were obtained by 39 students from eight Territory schools.
Education Minister Selena Uibo said she was impressed with the completion rates this year.
“Congratulations to all 1446 Territory students who completed their NTCET this year and thank you to the many teachers and support staff, family and friends who have worked tirelessly to help our students to receive their best possible results,” she said.
