MORE school activities such as music lessons and drama classes will be covered by an expanded Sport Voucher Scheme, which opens to the public on Monday.
It comes after the NT government allocated $6.04m into the scheme in their 2021-22 budget.
The vouchers help families deal with the ever-growing cost of living, putting $100 towards urban and remote sports, swimming lessons for children aged under five, and music lessons.
Sport Minister Kate Worden said more than 250 musical, sport and drama providers have been included in the scheme this year.
“We want to give every child the best start in life – this is the right thing to do and the smart thing to do for all Territorians,” Ms Worden said.

“The sport vouchers mean parents and guardians can better manage the cost of these activities, and they also open the door for children to try new things and learn new skills.
“The new additions to the sport vouchers program mean all Territory children get the opportunity to learn an instrument and swim.”
Rapid Creek father Bill Grose, whose six-year-old daughter Teal Chapple-Grose is an enthusiastic violin student, said the expansion of the voucher scheme was great news for his family.
“We’ll use it for Teal’s violin lessons for sure,” he said.
“She has individual lessons, so it should cover a few weeks’ worth of classes.”
