Lleyton and Bec Hewitt’s 19-year-old daughter Mia has landed a job on the long-running soap Home and Away.
While most teenagers work at fast-food chains or retail stores, the teenager has managed to snag a gig in the wardrobe department of the famous television show.
The Aussie ‘nepo baby’, who bears a striking resemblance to her famous mum, was seen on set in denim shorts, keeping it casual.
Despite her famous pedigree – her mum won Dancing with the Stars – she was seen working alongside the rest of the crew, even holding up an umbrella for a cast member at one point.
Mia’s job comes after her mum, Bec, starred on the Home and Away between 1998 and 2005.
She became Australia’s golden girl by playing the much-loved character Hayley Smith Lawson and it was the launching pad for her career as a singer and reality show contestant.
Bec’s fame rose even further in the early 2000s because she met and started dating Lleyton, who was in the middle of a hugely successful tennis career at the time.
They became the ‘it’ couple in the early 2000s, got married in 2005, and are still together.
They’ve gone on to have Mia, 19, 16-year-old Cruz, a budding tennis player now taller than Lleyton, and Ava, 13.
The family has lived all over, from the Bahamas to Melbourne, but relocated to Sydney in 2023 and purchased a $10 million mansion in the Hills district.
The pair also own a luxe waterfront villa in The Bahamas, which they bought in 2009 for $3.8 million. The home is located in an exclusive gated community in the capital of Nassau and boasts four bedrooms, four bathrooms and its own private jetty.
Lleyton’s net worth is rumoured to be over $20 million from his tennis career and various sponsorships.
Since their relocation, Mia has been spotted hanging out all over Sydney, wearing seventies-inspired fashion and hanging out in Sydney’s Inner West.
On Instagram, she describes herself as a “sister of the moon”.
She’s also dating a guy in an indie rock band. She is linked to Vanda Erich who is the band Liquid Zoo.
Mia isn’t just working behind the scenes either.
Sadly, she’s not following in her mum’s footsteps and doing the cha-cha on Dancing with the Stars or screaming “come on” on a tennis court like her dad.
Instead she started a folk-rock duo with her friend Claudia Rose called Father’s Favourite and they write “witchy little love songs”.
The duo has been gigging all over Sydney’s Inner West and even opened for Mia’s boyfriend’s band.
It seems her mum is helping her navigate life in the spotlight, with a source telling New Idea that Bec has been “offering up advice about how to be paid and negotiate her performances but also how to manage fame”.
“Many forget Bec tried her hand at music. While it didn’t land her a Grammy or an ARIA, Bec built so many contacts and friends in the industry who have been able to guide Mia down the right path,” the insider said.
“Bec knows how to deal with bad people, dodgy managers and doesn’t want Mia making some of the mistakes she made early in her career, like being too trusting or even being too optimistic about certain jobs.”
