A woman has suffered at least 25 per cent burns to her body after a gas explosion at work.

Emergency services were called to reports of a gas explosion in the kitchen at Six Strings Brewery on Chiltern Rd, Erina, on the Central Coast, about 11.45am on Monday.

Brewery staff member Jordana was treated by paramedics for serious burns to her face before she was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.

She expected to undergo multiple surgeries and skin grafting, and her recovery is expected to take months.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.

As the business works to reopen its venue, staff have created a GoFundMe to help Jordana with her recovery in the following months.

“One of our Six String Family members was the unfortunate victim of a terrible accident at work,” the fundraiser stated.

“There was a gas explosion in the kitchen at work which happened whilst Jordana was inside, she suffered horrendous burns to 25 per cent of her body and although we don’t yet know the full extent of the damage, we have been informed that she will require multiple surgeries and skin grafts over the coming four weeks.

“This will be just the start of her long and difficult journey back to recovery, she will have to undergo months of physical therapy and hospital visits before she will be able to return to work.”
Her colleagues were hoping to put together a “care package” as she moves through her recovery.

“We are putting together a care package to help get her through the difficult times ahead in hospital and to let her know we are all thinking of her,” the fundraiser stated.

“It goes without saying that Jordana as a member of the Six String family, will have medical expenses and wages totally taken care of but it is our hope that we can help raise the money to be able to help support her family through this difficult time.

“It will be a long road ahead and her boyfriend and family are going to need extended time off work to help her recover.

“It is vitally important that she can fully focus on getting better and not have to worry about her family taking time off to support her.

“She has enough to stress right now so anything you can help us raise will be massively appreciated.”

At the time of publication, the fundraiser had raised $850 of its $15,000 target.
