DELICIOUS news, Darwinites, Uber Eats is coming to the NT capital.

Uber Eats state manager Elisa Janiec confirmed the popular food delivery service would start serving Darwin customers in early July.

“We’ve had overwhelming support from the Darwin community so far since Uber started in Darwin in August,” she said.

“We’re expecting similar levels of support with Uber Eats.”

Ms Janiec said Darwin Uber users would this week be sent a survey which would allow them to vote on which restaurants they’d like to see using the app.

Based on those results, Ms Janiec said the Uber Eats team would start speaking with local businesses to see if they would be keen to sign up.

“I hope we have as many people as we can signing up,” she said.

“Uber Eats is all about getting your favourite meals at the touch of a button — reliably and quickly.”

Ms Janiec said the average order was delivered within 30 minutes, and there was a 24 hour support service in case of any issues.

She said variety was the key to the platform’s success.

“Seven out of 10 consumers don’t know what they want to eat at 5pm that day,” she said.

“It’s all about delivering that convenience.

“Customers really love that choice.”

Ms Janiec said other Territory centress could soon be getting Uber Eats as well, and encouraged people in Alice Springs and other areas to reach out if they wanted the service.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to start with Darwin at the beginning” she said.

“We’re always reviewing where we are going to next.”

Uber Eats is interested in speaking to Darwinites who are interested in signing up as drivers or restaurant providers.

Ms Janiec remained tight-lipped about the payment arrangements with restaurateurs.

“Each commercial arrangement is confidential,” she said.

“Uber Eats is really just about helping boost those restaurant numbers.

“What we are doing is really investing in the local restaurants.”
