TWO Darwin restaurants and local hospitality identity Jimmy Shu have been recognised in the annual Hostplus Restaurant & Catering Australia Awards, proving Territory chefs and restaurants can compete with the best venues in the country.
Hot Tamale and Snapper Rocks, both owned by David Robinson, won their respective categories of best Mexican restaurant and best wine bar/brewery & boutique spirits.
The Waterfront-based venues were judged against Queensland-based venues in the NT/QLD awards.

Jimmy Shu, the man behind the popular Indian restaurant Hanuman, was recognised with a lifetime achievement award.
The Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence, which were held in Brisbane overnight, give restaurants, cafes and caterers well-deserved recognition for their service in the industry.
The awards are held in each state, recognising operators in metropolitan and regional centres.
